Marsh and McLennan Companies Hires new Deputy General Counsel

 

Marsh and McLennan Companies, a professional services firm that brokers insurance and advises clients about risk, has hired a new deputy general counsel.

 

Carey Roberts, a 17-year employee of the law firm Covington and Burling, will step into the role, Marsh and McLennan announced in a Monday press release. In her new position, Roberts will lead a team of lawyers in advising clients on matters of corporate and employment law, e-discovery, privacy and other matters.

 

Marsh and McLennan Companies owns the risk management and insurance brokerage Marsh, as well as the risk management, assessment and actuarial firm Guy Carpenter. The firm is headquartered in New York City.

 

As a partner in Covington and Burling's corporate department since 2005, she has advised clients on issues, such as securities, finance, regulatory, employee compensation and benefits and intellectual property, according to the statement.

 

Roberts will also serve as Marsh and McLennan's corporate secretary.
