Cuomo Needles Acupuncturists

 Cuomo Vetoes Acupuncture Bill:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has vetoed legislation that would have allowed injured workers to be treated by acupuncturists and established a system for authorization of acupuncturists by the New York State Workers' Compensation Board.

On Sept. 27, Cuomo vetoed Assembly 5940, filed by Assemblyman Harry Bronson, D-Rochester. The bill was approved by voice vote in the Senate and passed the Assembly by a vote of 136-5 on June 20.

The bill would have required State Workers' Compensation Board Chairman Robert Beloten to establish a system of authorizing acupuncturists and a fee schedule for acupuncture services.

The bill is here.
